With the spirit of manufacturing
create new value

Yamada Chemical Co., Ltd.
Chairman and President Mitsutaka Yamada

Established 79 years ago. We have responded to the needs of the times without fearing change.

Yamada Chemical is a chemical manufacturer that has been in business for 79 years. Its origins began with Japan's first industrial production of ion exchange resin, followed by textile dyes that colored society after the war, and then, with the spread of computers, information recording materials (heat-sensitive and pressure-sensitive paper), and recording media (CD- We have been providing "functional dyes" used in R, DVD-R). "Functional dyes" that exhibit their functions through the action of light and heat are used in electronic products such as optical materials. Based on organic synthesis technology, we have always contributed to society by providing products that meet the needs of the time without fearing change. Currently, we are responding to customer needs on a daily basis by developing our own products based on the technology we have cultivated, and applying the mass production technology we have gained through contract manufacturing. Development of in-house products and contract manufacturing are Yamada Chemical's core technologies.

Our products are not visible to general consumers. However, there is no doubt that it is essential to support cutting-edge technology. We make products in these areas and contribute to society. We position ourselves as a leading support player in society. This is what makes Yamada Chemical unique, and where we can play a role in society.

At the root of our corporate spirit is the spirit of ``Wa-respect,'' which is our company motto.

At the heart of Yamada Chemical is the spirit of ``Wa-kei,'' which is our company motto. ``Wa'' means getting along with others, and ``kei'' means respecting others. This is at the top of our management philosophy and is also our basic principle. In modern society, values are diversifying. In doing so, each individual employee has declared that they will put into practice the spirit of harmony and respect, work together within the organization, and contribute to society.
We believe that the ideal state of Yamada Chemical is to maintain a spirit of "harmony and respect" and continue contributing to society.

We have taken on a huge number of challenges and will continue to take on challenges in the future.

The world is currently changing at an incredible speed. Even under these circumstances, there is a high level of interest in Yamada Chemical's products, including functional dyes, and we have received inquiries from domestic and overseas customers. There are countless things that customers want and society needs, and I believe that we have been able to earn a high level of trust and recognition because we have addressed each one of them with sincerity. If we are not needed by our customers and society, there is no reason for us to exist. If our customers demand change, our existence will be meaningless unless we respond flexibly to that change. In order to continue to be a presence that is needed by society and customers, it is natural for us to change. From our founding to the present, we have faced a huge number of challenges.
Founded during wartime when supplies were scarce, we have continued to take on new challenges even in the face of adversity. It can be said that Yamada Chemical has been able to establish its current position because of the deep commitment to manufacturing that has existed since its founding. Additionally, we have a traditionally rooted culture within our company that respects the individual and supports and cheers on those who take on challenges. Both the company as a whole and individuals continue to take on challenges. Yamada Chemical has such a corporate culture.

Able to think for oneself and act for oneself - this is the kind of person we are looking for

The structure of industry and society is changing, and what is required is changing at an accelerating pace. Even in today's world, where the winning formulas that worked in the past no longer apply, we still need to produce results as a company. If so, what should we do? I believe that it is necessary to be imaginative and come up with solutions on your own. Yamada Chemical's employee development policy is to develop autonomous and self-motivated human resources. Rather than being able to act only on someone's orders, they are able to take initiative, identify tasks to achieve their goals, act with self-discipline, think for themselves, and reach their own conclusions. I would like to work with such people.

When people like this work together, they should be able to think and inspire each other. This is just like a chemical reaction. If a chemical reaction is placed in the appropriate environment and conditions, the reaction will proceed and the compounds will react spontaneously, creating something completely new. The same goes for companies and people. By stimulating each other with employees with different personalities, we create something of great value. This is the ideal organizational structure for Yamada Chemical, which is based on organic synthetic chemistry.

To everyone who will be working with me from now on──

Because Yamada Chemical is a small organization, each person is naturally required to have a wide range of responsibilities. As a result, they have a wide range of fields of activity from a young age, allowing them to experience many different things than just one job. There are rules for drawing lines between jobs, but we don't judge the lines that shouldn't be crossed. We are not an organization that would collapse if we did not draw a line on the ruler. We have a corporate culture that actively recognizes individuals' desire to do their part. I believe that this is not only rewarding, but also an opportunity for each individual to grow.

People who can think and act on their own, identify issues, and take on the challenge of solving problems. A person who spares no effort to achieve this goal. Yamada Chemical is looking for people like this. Organic synthesis is also a process of trial and error. When you overcome obstacles without giving up, you experience the true pleasure of manufacturing and experience great joy and growth. As we approach our 100th anniversary, we are looking forward to everyone who will take on the challenge of creating new products with us.
