◆ Motivation for joining the company

When I was in university, I belonged to an organic materials laboratory and conducted research on photochromic dyes. At that time, I was looking for a job that would allow me to make better use of what I had learned as a student, and I learned from job-hunting sites and the Internet that our company handles functional dyes such as photochromic dyes.
It was very appealing to me to be able to be involved in the process of turning the materials I researched during my student days into products into the world. Since our company is not that large, each employee has a wide scope of work and is able to take on challenges proactively. I decided to join the company because I felt that the company culture suited me.

◆Current job

In the development department that I belong to, there are development staff who synthesize pigments and develop new products, and sales staff who discuss and negotiate with customers. Currently, my focus is on sales. We respond to a variety of projects, from material proposals tailored to customer needs to requests for synthesis.
We mainly handle two types of products: products developed in-house and products commissioned by customers. For commissioned products, we discuss with the customer and respond to their needs, and for products developed in-house, we propose materials that meet the customer's requests based on our technology and know-how.

◆Work satisfaction/experience stories

I'm not very good at talking to people, so when I transferred to sales, I was honestly worried about whether I would be able to continue. However, thanks to the enthusiastic guidance of my seniors and superiors, my worries gradually disappeared. Although I have only been in charge of sales for a short time, I have been able to interact with a variety of customers, from those who have been with us for a long time to new customers. We often use online tools for meetings with customers, but we may also visit the customer's company directly.
We will propose and evaluate materials to meet the customer's requests. Based on that feedback, we will explore the next step. Basically, this cycle is repeated. Bringing a product to market is not an easy task. However, by repeating the above cycle, we gradually get closer to the finished product. I find that process rewarding.

◆Future vision

Our future goal is to advance development together with our customers and bring various products to market. It is not easy to find products that are likely to be released into the world as products, but we would like to become a salesperson that can earn more trust through interaction with customers.
In addition to learning basic knowledge about chemical materials, I think it is also necessary to acquire knowledge about the final products, including how our dyes are used and released into the world. . I am thinking of stealing the knowledge of my superiors and seniors at the company and establishing my own sales style.

◆Charm of Yamada Chemical

Our company has about 100 employees, so we are close to people from other departments and can interact with a variety of people. In addition, there is a good atmosphere within the company, and everyone is welcome to express their opinions.
As a company policy, even young employees can gain a variety of experiences and be actively encouraged to do what they want to do. I think it's a very comfortable working environment.

◆A word from a senior

He is an attentive and reliable junior.

When you transfer from another department to sales, your work content changes dramatically, and communication within and outside the company becomes more important than ever. We hope that you will understand your surroundings and work towards your goals by changing from a person who does the assigned job to a person who thinks for themselves and does their work.

◆To everyone who will join the company from now on

If there is something you don't understand or are having trouble with, of course it's important to think about it on your own, but it's also important to ask for the cooperation of those around you rather than burdening it alone. Even when manufacturing a single product, various people are involved. We need to be aware that we are all creating things together. To achieve this, be sure to communicate with a variety of people.

◆How to spend your holidays

I go on trips somewhere, and since I'm not from Kansai, I also go to tourist spots nearby. Most recently, I went to Thailand on an overseas trip. Although it was only for two days over the weekend, I was able to fully enjoy the sightseeing spots and local food. Through exposure to different cultures, I have set the goal of being able to communicate in English with people from other countries, and I am working hard to study little by little.
